ミッション・ステートメント-私たちの使命-

Arizona State University's Asian Pacific American Studies (APAS) Program strives to become a leading resource for information about Asian American and Pacific Islander history, culture, politics, communities, literature, arts, media and contemporary issues, with a particular focus on the U.S. Southwest. APAS's critical and intellectual project of gathering and developing research, scholarship, and archival information on the long history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the Southwest contributes to the larger discipline of Asian Pacific American Studies, as well as to a better understanding of the social dynamics of Arizona and the United States.

サイト情報

Our participation with the Nikkei Legacy Project will allow us to demonstrate the importance of Asian American and Pacific Islander experiences in Arizona. This inclusion will nuance existing scholarship about the Japanese American experience in the United States, which primarily focuses on California and Hawai'i. Our partnership with the Japanese Americans in Arizona Oral History Project will also raise greater global awareness about the significance of the Southwestern United States in relation to the Nikkei Diaspora, and highlights our intellectual commitment to researching local Asian American and Pacific Islander experiences in relation to global and national developments of the past and present. For the Discover Nikkei website, we will survey and provide online Nikkei-related collections and resources in Arizona.
