Black and white silent amateur films by Dave Tatsuno (1913-2006), a businessman in the San Francisco Bay area. Tatsuno's films, before 1942 and the forced exclusion of World War II, generally show family outings, sporting events, holidays, celebrations, and the family business.
This segment, from ca. 1940, shows a group of people on the deck of the steamship Kamakura Maru as it prepares to sail from San Francisco; shots of well-dressed individuals and groups, posing for the camera; many of the women wear hats and corsages, the men wear suits or sportcoats and ties (01:10).
