Black and white silent amateur films by Dave Tatsuno (1913-2006), a businessman in the San Francisco Bay area. Tatsuno's earliest films, taken from August 1936-January 1937, show family, church, and school activities.
This segment (03:22) shows the November 21, 1936, football game between the University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University. The footage shows Tatsuno's girlfriend (later his wife), Alice Okada, with a woman (her mother?) and man (her brother Tom?); a title board, before and after correction, "The Big Game / California - 20 / Stanford - 0 / Nov 21 1936"; Sather Tower at UC Berkeley; an unidentified young man; Alice Okada with an unidentified friend, carrying pom-poms; spectators arriving at the stadium; the football teams; marching bands; the Cal band spells "We Want the Axe Now"; the football game; the half-time marching bands and card sections; an unidentified young man [dark]; football players [dark].
