These different hapi coats represent the many visitors and supporters of the Orange County Buddhist Church obon. Members of other Buddhist temples and churches came to the OCBC obon to eat, drink, shop and dance. They showed pride for their respective churches by wearing different colored hapi coats. The wide variety of colors and styles shows how many different community supporters were present. And, there were a lot!

The Orange County Buddhist Church obon had a raffle drawing with very excellent prizes. The grand prize was two round-trip plane tickets to Japan. First prize was $1500, second was $750 and third was $500. These four prizes were only a few of the many smaller prizes available. The tickets were only $2 each. That sounds like a good deal to me.
