Book Signing and Summer Sale
Sunday, June 29, 2008
Noon - 3:00pm: Book Sale
1:30pm: Author's talk and reception

On Sunday, June 29th, George Sidline will give a presentation about his new book Somehow We’ll Survive: Life in Japan through the Eyes of a Young Caucasian Boy. In this memoir, Mr. Sidline, who was seven years old in 1941, describes what life was like for his family living in Kobe, including their friendships with American POWs at Marks House, adjacent to the Sidline home. The author was persuaded to write this book by many people who were unaware that foreigners lived in Japan during the war. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in this little known aspect of the periphery of war in the Pacific.

In addition, the ONLC gift shop will host a summer book sale from noon to 3:00 p.m. on the 29th. New books will be available, as well as discounted prices on many items in the store. Friends of the Legacy Center will receive their member discount in addition to sale prices.

Somehow We'll Survive will be available for sale on the day of the event. For more information, contact the Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center.
