Zenshin Daiko is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. The Board of Directors handle the organizational aspects of the group. The Managing Director takes care of the day to day business and the Artistic Director oversees the performances, song writing, etc.

Although Zenshin Daiko has adult members, only the children members perform and recently they have been writing new pieces to perform.

Describe how, where, and why the ensemble was founded. What was its inspiration?

Zenshin Daiko was formed to focus on teaching children taiko.

Members come from many different ethnic backgrounds including: Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Caucasian, Hawaiian, and Portuguese.

Performances

Zenshin Daiko has averaged four performances a month at cultural and community events throughout Maui. Zenshin Daiko has become a regular at many of these events including; The Maui County Fair Parade, The Maui County Fair Opening Ceremony, Lanai Aloha Festivals, King Kekaulike Charity Walk, Upcounty Fair, YMCA Bazaar, WalkAmerica, Cameron Center Bazaar,

Zenshin Daiko is also the sponsor of Maui's only Taiko Festival and had it's 7th Annual Taiko Festival on June 24, 2006 at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center's Castle Theater.
