War with Japan officially ended while en-route to the Philippines, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on September 2.

Fortunately, many of us were too young and naive to realize the seriousness of military service during wartime.
Experience was very helpful in returning to civilian life.
Made many friends during my military tour.
