Japanese Americans held onto their traditions. Many Japanese Americans were Buddhists. Here they pictured celebrating Obon festival, which pays homage to their ancestors. "I remember dancing with my mom and dad at Obon festival. That was something I always looked forward to." ~Jane Muranaka

One aspect of the San Fernando Valley Hongwanji Buddhist Temple obon was the Bonsai Exhibit and sale. There were many bonsai on display, created and donated by different artists. Some were huge, others smaller, but all magnificent.
