Japanese Garden Bridge

Unidos de Vila Maria's opening float featured a Japanese garden bridge, as well as the Tori and the Shinto Palace. The opening float, titled "Millenniums of Culture and Wisdom," was among the largest floats of all the schools in the special group, at 110 meters. Tori - Opening float

Unidos de Vila Maria's float brought a gigantic Tori (sacred portal) with the school's name. This was its largest float, which also featured a Shinto palace and a garden. The rain of shiny paper completed the scene of the school's entrance onto the samba catwalk. The Unidos de Vila Maria samba school paid tribute to the Centennial of Japanese Immigration to Brazil - to be celebrated in June 2008 - in its parade in the special group, in the early hours of February 2. Vila Maria won 3rd place in the São Paulo carnival with the samba theme: Irashai-Mase, Millennia of Culture and Wisdom in the Centennial of Japanese Immigration , and brought a joy of colors, music and rich details in its floats and costumes to Anhembi.
