Black and white silent amateur films by Dave Tatsuno (1913-2006), a businessman in the San Francisco Bay area. Tatsuno's films, before 1942 and the forced exclusion of World War II, generally show family outings, sporting events, holidays, celebrations, and the family business.
This segment, from ca. 1937, shows the newly built Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco; cars approach toll booths at the bridge's southern entrance; a toll collector; a road sign; pedestrians crossing the bridge; Shojiro Tatsuno posing with a bridge cable; surf below the bridge; bridge traffic; panoramic view of the San Francisco skyline and bay from the Golden Gate Bridge; buildings below the bridge; shipping in the bay (01:20).
