These street tacos are made to order near 1st and Soto in Boyle Heights, where the Metro Goldline will eventually serve as a subway stop.
These two friends drive to the corner of 1st and Mathews streets every night at 7pm where they unload and setup their cooking equipment. They start the fire at around 7:30pm for their first customers. It has been their business for the last three years.
When I asked them what the business name was, like McDonalds or King Taco, they looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. "Tacos Mexicano," one of them said. They went back to cooking. The name was settled for that night.
