This is a photograph of lettuce growing in my parents' backyard vegetable garden. My dad doesn't actually plant the lettuce. Every year at the end of the season, he lets some grow and flower. Then, he ties them to the fence surrounding the vegetable garden. As it naturally dries out, the seeds fall onto the soil and lettuce grows back the next year. Of course, this method does result in random lettuce growing in the grass. =)
My parents definitely have green thumbs...things just grow! For my sister and I, and many of my cousins, the green thumb seems to have skipped our generation.
The photograph was taken on March 3, 2007.
