(1) Where ever we could - fox hole - abandoned bldg - tent. (2) Sponge bath - shower (later). - K ration, C ration, Field kitchen Food, except for field kitchen, was lousy. After fighting - entertained troops with blond vocalist.
Most vivid memory of military experience
After intense shelling of mortar barrage - there was silence - except in the dead silence there was bird - 'cuckoo - cuckoo' - thinking to myself - how true.

How close I had become to my comrades - trusting them to be there if I ever needed them.
