The zen garden is a very small area that does not at first have much of a likeness to a traditional zen garden with rocks, rake, and gravel.

Because this garden does not have a sponsor and does not charge entrance fees, its upkeep is funded by bake sales and other student efforts on an annual basis.
For this reason, the current state of the zen garden is due to lack of funding, not voluntary neglect.
