In 1899, the first Japanese people traveled to Peru to work in sugarcane farms and sugar factories. Since then, about 36,000 people have come, and today the Japanese population is said to be about 90,000. This exhibition will focus on the history and lives of Japanese people in Peru, the first country in South America to receive Japanese immigrants.
