Japanese ambassador of Tango in the world Anna Saeki, originally from the prefecture of Sapporo, Japan, was chosen "Beauty Queen" when she was crowned "Miss Sapporo". In 1987 she debuted as a singer with the album "Tango primavera" and took part in the tours in Japan of the orchestra of Leopoldo Federico and José Colángelo. In 1989 she traveled to Buenos Aires for the first time to record her second album, "Rapsody in Rain." Seventeen years later she returned to celebrate her twentieth anniversary and since then she has visited this city to sing in different places. During her career, she recorded the albums "Canto de Sirena", "Negau" and "Omoi" where popular Japanese and foreign songs are transformed into tango arrangements. In 2007 the 20th anniversary album "Concierto de Anna Clásica y Moderna" was released in Buenos Aires under the record label Típica Records and in Japan, and in Europe in March 2008. Maestros Leopoldo Federico and Horacio Ferrer were her guests and she was accompanied by the orchestras of Raúl Garello and Nicolás Ledesma. New York, Paris, Berlin and Hawaii are some of the cities that witnessed her concerts. In Argentina, she presented her anniversary CD at the CC Torquato Tasso, and was also invited to the Buenos Aires Tango Festival, the Justo Daract Tango Festival, San Luis, and sang with the Buenos Aires Tango Orchestra, and with the Juan de Dios Filiberto National Orchestra. She is not the only Japanese singer who records or sings with prestigious Argentine musicians, but few build a relationship with tango, with our music and our musicians, and is capable of taking this genre to different places on the planet. Interview on "Japón Hoy" For those who wish to know her better, they will be able to listen to her in a live interview next Wednesday, March 11, from 5 to 6 pm, on the radio program "Japón Hoy" that is broadcast on FM Palermo (93.9) and via the web: www.japon-hoy.com.ar
