Immigration Research Group Workshop & Symposium Objective: Since 1994, when "Immigration Research in Japan" (Nichigai Associates: 1994) was published, the quality and quantity of immigration research in Japan has increased dramatically, and its scope has expanded remarkably. This indicates the need for a huge amount of newly emerging research and the examination (reexamination) of the research perspectives. The purpose of this project is to present a "research trend outlook" for each research topic based on the results of the classification and organization work on immigration research since 1994, and to deepen the discussion. This kind of "research history research" work will lead to constructive "translation" and mutual exchange of various concepts and research perspectives in the research on "immigration" that spans multiple fields such as history, literature, anthropology, sociology, and geography. Specifically, we would like to explore new horizons in immigration research while examining the possibilities and challenges of research perspectives such as "transnationalism" and "global migration" in addition to traditional research perspectives such as "immigration and emigration" and "assimilation." : Program (tentative) Titles omitted Saturday, August 5th 12:00 Greetings from the Chair of the Joint Research Promotion Committee of the Japan Society for Migration Studies Shinoda Satae 12:10-14:10 [Session 1: Nation and Transnational] Hasegawa Sumi, Suga (Shichinohe) Miya, Kono Rikako, Masuda Naoko 14:20-16:20 [Session 2: Aspects of Migration and Society] Takahashi Norifumi, Minamikawa Fuminori, Haino Sumiko, Fukami Asa, Iino Tomomi 16:30-18:00 [Conclusion session: The future of migration research] Kimura Kenji Sunday, August 6th 10:00-13:00 [From the perspective of education in migration research] Moderators Murakawa Yoko Kumei Teruko Morimoto Toyotomi Minamikawa Fuminori Venue: Tsuda Umeko Memorial Center, Tsuda University A map can be found on the website below. http://www.tsuda.ac.jp/ja/guide/C15.html
