What does it mean to be Japanese American in today’s society? This question, as well as others will beexplored in this special group discussion.

According to the 2000 census, one of every three Japanese Americans identified themselves as being multi-racial. An example of being mult-racial is the relatively new concept, “shin-Nisei,” children of Issei who emigrated after WW II. New terminology is constantly being coined to reflect changing social conditions.
After a short presentation, audience members will explore this topic by sharing their own stories, as well as finding the commonalities and differences that characterize Japanese Americans today.
