Recuerdo más vívido de la experiencia militar
During the course of language instruction at Fort Snelling, MN, MISLS closed the school operation. I was among a number of students loaded on a troop train and moved to Presidio of Monterey, CA to continue schooling.
After graduation on 9/7/1946, some of us were assigned to Washington, DC to the PACMIRS (Pacific Military Intelligence Research Service) Detachment to catalogue captured and important military and scientific documents.
About 3 weeks prior to my discharge, two of us got orders to report to one of the offices of the Pentagon for more cataloging.
Being able to work inside and see some of the working of the Pentagon was my rare lifetime experience!
Información adicional
Upon induction into the service, I was placed in the 'Enlisted Reserve Corps' as an unassigned Private and told to go home. Later, I was finally inducted, given another physical and sent to Camp Gordon, GA for basic (infantry) training. After basic, instead of reporting to Ft. Peterson, I was put on a troop train to Ft. Snelling, MN to undergo language training.
