Born in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture in 1965. Graduated from the University of Tsukuba, College of Social Sciences, with a major in Law. Completed the Master's Program in Education at the Graduate School of Tsukuba. Withdrew from the Graduate School of Education, University of Tsukuba, withdrew with sufficient credits. After working as a full-time lecturer, assistant professor, and associate professor at the Faculty of Education, Tokyo Gakugei University, and a visiting researcher at the Faculty of Education, University of Hawaii (2001-2002, 2008), he is currently a professor at the Faculty of Education, Tokyo Gakugei University, and holds a PhD in Education (University of Tsukuba). His areas of expertise are social studies education, multicultural education, Hawaiian studies, and lesson research methodology. His publications include Multicultural Education and Hawaiian Intercultural Understanding Learning: How is "Fairness" Perceived? (sole author, Nakanishiya Publishing, 2011) and others.
