"For Us, By Us"

Free outdoor concert featuring the hottest up-and-coming Asian Pacific Islander performing artists in Little Tokyo, Downtown Los Angeles

On Saturday, August 23rd, Next Generation Remix 2008: Community Reborn showcases some of the hottest up-and-coming, Asian Pacific Islander (API) performing artists in Los Angeles. Geared towards API youth, REMIX is a call for a return to community through the power of music, word and dance. Come sit or dance under the stars in the JACCC Plaza and witness the artistry of young performers who are steadfastly keeping traditional culture alive while others are blazing their own trail through R&B, hip-hop, folk, indie, rock music and dance. Cultural performances are from 6-7pm featuring PROGRESSIVE TAIKO. The contemporary evening set begins at 7pm, featuring the soulful music and vocals of Sue Jin, the folk sounds of Jinah Kim, indie/soul/hyphy duo Burmah Flores, the electrifying choreography of NSU Modern, hip-hop strains from AESTHETICS CREW, the bluesy-acoustic sounds of Jason Arimoto & Lady L, hip hop headliner Bambu, and the talents of LinoType weaving in and out throughout the evening on the turntables! More participating artists will be announced in the upcoming weeks; you can also check out our website at www.myspace.com/ng_remix2008!

In addition, a pair of roundtrip airline tickets will be raffled off at this event, courtesy of Southwest Airlines, the official airline sponsor of CJACLC and NCI.
