This segment (04:33; emulsion partly damaged) shows footage of Aratani's Buddhist funeral (April 1940) in Guadalupe and Santa Maria, California, including Buddhist priests and church officials escorting Aratani's flower-draped casket from services at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Santa Maria, California; family members and mourners following the casket; mourners posing with Aratani's casket and massed floral tributes outside the Veterans Memorial; the long funeral motorcade pulling away from the Veterans Memorial, with trucks carrying the floral tributes.
