On the closing day of Transpacific Borderlands: The Art of Japanese Diaspora in Lima, Los Angeles, Mexico City, and São Paulo, join exhibition curator Clement Hanami and exhibiting artist Shinpei Takeda for a conversation on social representation and cultural context across borders. How do borderlands function as a space for exchanging ideas and culture? How do artworks take on new cultural and historical meanings when displayed to a new audience? What is the role of the artist and his/her practice?

The talk will be moderated by Selene Preciado, an independent curator and Program Assistant at the Getty Foundation, and include time for audience Q&A.

Included with museum admission. RSVPs are recommended.
