As early as 1890, the Issei pionees arrived in the Santa Clara Valley to farm the rich orchrds and fields, cultivate flowers in nurseries, and do domestic jobs in the towns. Japantowns formed in San Jose and Mountview View to serve the growing Nikkei community. Dr. Raymond Douglas Chong will speak.
