BIWA presents
Images of MANZANAR
a photographic exhibit by Bob Goldfeder
December 1, 2007 - February 29, 2008

Ten miles north of Lone Pine in the Owens Valley of California is the National Historic monument of Manzanar. Manzanar was the first of ten wartime camps established by the U.S. government in 1942 to "relocate" and intern Japanese Americans living on the West Coast. The camp population exceeded 10,000, which made it the largest town in the Owens Valley during the war.

This photographic exhibit examines and illustrates what physically remains today of the traces of the people who were imprisoned. All the photos are black and white and represent many visits to the site over a period of three years in the late nineties.

Exhibit on view from December 1, 2007 through February 29, 2008 during restaurant hours:
Monday – Saturday, 5 pm - close
