Think differently about sex, sexuality and gender with this opening night lecture by exhibition guest curator Asato Ikeda (Fordham University). Highlights from A Third Gender: Beautiful Youths in Japanese Prints are used to illustrate fundamental questions at the core of the exhibition, including how gender and sexuality were structured in early modern Japan, and in what ways Edo-period sexuality relates to contemporary LGBTQ+ culture. Followed by a reception.
