二世ウィーク2007 - 青森ねぶた初上陸

今年で第67回を迎えた、カリフォルニア州ロサンゼルスの二世ウィークに、日本を代表する郷土祭り、青森ねぶたが登場しました。

日系コミュニティの中では伝統ある祭りとしてよく知られているこのお祭りも、最近アメリカへ移住してきた日本人の中では意外と知名度も低く、聞いたことあるけど、行ったことない!という方も多いようです。しかし、今年はこのねぶたのおかげで、新しい世代・グループがリトル東京へ戻ってきたといううれしいニュースも耳にしました。

本場青森の友人からは、たった1台で、そんなに盛り上がったの??と不思議がられてしまいましたが、それはもうすごい迫力で感動しました。

今後もこのような日本の伝統的なものをアメリカへ取り込み、リトル東京の活性化に少しでも繋がれば・・・と心ならずも思ったものです。
