This photo was taken on August 21, 1977 at the Nisei Week Parade in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, California. The building in the background is the former Nishi Hongwanji Buddhist Temple ceremonial arch entranceway which is now the Japanese American National Museum. The street is Central Avenue near First Street.

The ondo dancers are from the Gardena Buddhist Church in Gardena, California. They're waiting their turn to begin dancing. Back then, the parade used to begin on First Street. The parade route is now reversed so that it ends at 1st & Central.
