Kathryn Madara - Tuna Assembly Line

Kathryn Madara is Wednesday & Friday Group Tour Docent at the museum. The photo she chose shows Issei women working on a tuna assembly line on Terminal Island, an area near San Pedro, California. They were sent to concentration camps during World War II. After the war, residents were not allowed to return, so at reunions they reminisce about where their homes and community spaces used to be.
