Join Makawao Hongwanji in its celebration of obon, a Japanese summer festival honoring the ancestors who have come before us! Enjoy a variety of food and entertainment, and participate in the bon dance as we welcome the spirits of loved ones who have passed. Everyone is welcome, so make sure to bring the entire family!

Makawao Hognwanji was founded in 1907 by Rev. Ryukie Uehara, and continues its mission of service to the community and of spreading the love and kindness of the Buddha to this day.
