Interned at Amache Japanese Internment Camp, Granada, CO in 1942.
After returning from MIS service in Japan, he attended University to Northern Colorado, graduating in 1950. That same year he entered George Washington University Law School and received his Juris Doctorate in two years.
After graduating, he worked for the Legal Department, Veterans Administration in Denver, and in 1954 he moved to Ontario, OR, to join a law firm.
In 1956 he was appointed Assistant Attorney General , Oregon Department of Justice, serving as Chief Counsel from 1956-1975.
Within the Oregon State Bar he served as Chairman of the Legal Aid Committee, Chairman of the Civil Rights Committee and was appointed to the Oregon/US Civil Rights Advisory Commission.
He served as President of Portland JACL in 1966.
In 1975 he left Oregon to serve as the Special Assistant to the District Attorney of San Francisco as founder and first Director of the Family Support Bureau.
He retired in 1986.
He continued to serve in the US Army Reserves JAG Corps from 1959-1978. He was appointed Judge Advocate for the Oregon Reserve Officers Association, Chief Legal Officer and Governmental Affairs Division Chief, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1978.
