それでブラジル政府は、まず1938年の12月でしたかね、外国語による教育を禁止したんですね。それはドイツ語と日本語とイタリア語だったんです。英語とフランス語はそういった制限にはひっかからなかったんですけど。 ただサンパウロの場合はですね、ハワイにおける日系人と同じで、そのイタリア語を制限すると、サンパウロの街が成り立っていけないような感じだったはずなんですね。イタリア語の影響がサンパウロにおいては強いんで。そうするとイタリアは、戦争が始まってもすぐ降伏してしまったり。イタリア移民とかイタリア語に対する制限てのはそんなに厳しくなかったような気がする。 日本語は、もう日本語とドイツ語ってのはやっぱり、ものすごくやっぱり厳しく制限されてですね、戦時中なんてのは、日本語、3人で日本語喋っているとなんか逮捕されるとかですね、そういうようなこともあった。
