Geared for the young a nd young-at-heart\, this two-day session led by artist&nbsp\;<strong>Keiji Shinohara</strong>&nbsp\;teaches traditional Japanese techniques for conc eiving a woodblock design\, carving the blocks\, and printing\, all of whi ch have been adapted by artists working today.\nKeiji Shinohara has been t eaching Japanese printmaking and&nbsp\;<em>sumi-e</em>&nbsp\;painting for over 20 years at Wesleyan University in Middletown\, Connecticut. He studi ed the traditional&nbsp\;<em>ukiyo-e</em>&nbsp\;technique of the&nbsp\;<em >uesugi</em>&nbsp\;studio in Kyoto\, Japan for over 10 years. Shinohara ha s received grants from the Japan Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts\, and his work are found in many public collections\, including the Region of Honor Museums of San Francisco\, the Cleveland Museum of Art \, the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University\, Milwaukee Art Museum\, and the Library of Congress. He has given lectures at Arthur M. Slacker and Fr eer Gallery of Art\, Smithsonian Institution\, Metropolitan Museum of Art\ , Museum of Fine Art\, and Boston and Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
