Berkeley Buddhist Temple & Berkeley Higashi Buddhist Temple Obon is an annual event to commemorate our ancestors. Traditionally, lanterns are hung in front of houses to guide the ancestors' spirits, Obon dances (Bon Odori) are performed, and food offerings are made at house altars and temples.
Obon is an annual event to commemorate our ancestors. It is a time of gratitude, giving, and joy.
Everyone is invited to participate.
Berkeley Buddhist Temple VS Berkeley Higashi Temple: Each year, Berkeley Buddhist Temple & Berkeley Higashi Temple have one event that includes both organizations together for the Bon Odori dance- observed as part of Buddhist memorial observance.
There are no food booths. It is open to the public
