Description:
News stories on both the U.S. and Japanese economies are offering a generally positive outlook to date. Media outlets are headlining America’s steady growth, decline in unemployment and low inflation, while on the other side of the world Japan’s economy continues its long-term recovery. Yet despite the economic upswing, recent survey findings by Pew Research Center show mixed public sentiment over each respective country’s economies and government. How are Americans viewing the Trump administration and the U.S. economy? What does the world think of President Trump and his trade and foreign policies? What does the Japanese public think of Japan’s government and economy? In this program, Bruce Stokes, Director of Global Economic Attitudes at Pew Research Center, shares his findings on global attitudes and trends on Japan and the United States.
