Join us for a special unveiling of two commemorative plaques in honour of the veterans and the Japanese Canadians buried in Mountain View, followed by a new historical walking tour of some of the graves.
2016 marks the hundredth anniversary of Japanese Canadian soldiers enlisting in Alberta to serve their adopted country in the First World War. Many of these soldiers were buried in Mountain View Cemetery, along with other pioneers of the Japanese Canadian community in Vancouver.
Presented with the support of the City of Vancouver, Parks Canada, and the Government of Canada – Canadian Heritage.
Enter off 33rd Avenue and meet near the Chinese and Jewish cemetery.
