エリック・ナカムラは、UCLA で東アジア研究の学位を取得しました。パリサディアン・ポスト紙で雑誌作りの仕事を始めましたが、90 年代初頭には数多くのパンクロック雑誌の制作に携わりました。1994 年以来、ジャイアント・ロボット誌の創刊と発行、アートギャラリーのキュレーション、ウェストロサンゼルスのソーテル・ブルバードにあるショップ (ジャイアント・ロボット) とギャラリー (GR2) の商品選びなどを行っているほか、1997 年には自主映画「サンセット」を制作しました。
彼はアジアの大衆文化について企業にコンサルティングを行い、Giant Robot ブランドの T シャツをデザインしています。最近、中村はロサンゼルスの全米日系人博物館で「Giant Robot Biennale」という一連の博物館展示会を企画し、Giant Robot 以外のさまざまなコミュニティや団体のプロジェクトにも取り組んでいます。Giant Robot はアジアの大衆文化の主要な発信源であり続け、アニメーション、アート、デザインのファンにとってのライフスタイル ブランドと見なされることがよくあります。

In celebration of its 50th issue and in collaboration with the Japanese American National Museum, the pop-culture magazine Giant Robot has assembled works by ten cutting-edge artists from around the country in Giant Robot Biennale: 50 Issues.
