Contemporary Asian Theater Scene and JAMsj present Summer Hangout Series: Stage Readings . This program engages high school and college aged actors to experience plays written by Asian American playwrights. This theater exercise will showcase a pivotal moment in the young thespian endeavor.

In Leah Nanako Winkler’s GOD SAID THIS a mother is diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. The father is a recovering alcoholic seeking redemption, and the two daughters are struggling to overcome their differences. Forced together in a time of need, these estranged people come face to face with their own mortality.

Pre-order a Snack Bento to enjoy during the performance (spam musubi, butter mochi, and Japanese soft drink)

Presented by Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS) and Japanese American Museum of San Jose (JAMsj)

COVID-19 Protocols: At this time, we will follow Santa Clara County's strong recommendation and require patrons to wear a mask in the exhibit area (unless eating or drinking) regardless of vaccination status and to show ID plus proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or proof of a negative COVID test (PCR method) taken within seventy-two hours of the performance for entry. The performance will be held in an outdoor area of the museum.
