CERTIFIED MANGO RELEASES FIRST CD
Get ready to relax or dance in the glorious Kohan Garden as the live world jazz music of Certified Mango drifts through the trees. This Silverton/Rosebery/Kaslo based band has just completed its first album entitled Wild Still Yonder: languid tangos, sultry funky rumbas, and mellow bossa novas. The CD release and concert will happen at on 24th July. On the same day it can be found world wide on-line at cdbaby.com
The CD took many months to complete, starting in the fall of 2015. Recording sessions happened at A Manor of Sight and Sound in Rosebery with band members Aiko Jackson, Shelley Dobie, Tsuneko 'Koko' Kokubo, Howard Bearham, and Paul 'Garbanzo' Gibbons. Bearham donned an extra wizard's hat as recording engineer. The material was then produced, mixed and mastered by Gibbons at Food of Love Records near Silverton, with regular feedback from other band members. "It was great to have input from all the musicians during the technical process, and this has resulted in a more 'organic' feel to the album" says Gibbons. There is a full 70 minutes of music on the CD.
Certified Mango would like to thank all its supporters, in particular the Columbia Basin Trust, the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance and the Slocan Lake Gallery Society for assistance in making this album.
The concert in the Kohan Garden at 2pm on Sunday 24th July will feature selections from the CD, as well as some brand new songs. Jim Dobie will join the band on electric guitar. By donation. Bring a blanket or chair.
