Of our season’s offerings, the fall concert is perhaps the most wide-open, offering more creative space for our performers and a greater diversity of work for our audience to enjoy. It also means a chance to see the largest drums--the Okedo and the Odaiko--on stage, and the full company performing together.

Making Waves will feature the varied voices of four of Portland Taiko’s musicians, each premiering new work in the concert: Dan Chin, Karen Tingey, Toru Watanabe, and Portland Taiko Artistic Director Michelle Fujii.

Making Waves will be performed this September 29th and 30th at Portland State University’s Lincoln Hall. Some of our fans might recognize the title of this fall show; in fact, Making Waves was the name of an annual concert Portland Taiko offered in years past. We are revisiting the title as a nod to the past, interpreted as a reflection of new work and our current voice, for the sense of timelessness that such a gesture can have.

Tickets: Single Tickets $15- $25, available through PSU Box Office and Ticketmaster outlets. For more information and for group tickets (10+), call (503) 288-2456 or email info@portlandtaiko.org.

Supported by: The Collins Foundation, The James F. & Marion L. Miller Foundation, KBOO Community Radio, Oregon Arts Commission, Work For Art, Regional Arts & Culture Council.
