SYMPOSIUM: The Road Ahead for U.S.-Japan Collaboration in the Asia Pacific Region

The Symposium commemorates the 50th anniversary of the signing of the U.S.-Japan Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security. Symposium programming emphasizes the importance of the agreement by reflecting on the past and looking ahead to the next 50 years of U.S.-Japan relations. Thought leaders from the local community, the U.S. mainland and Japan are coming together to explore and discuss how to sustain the alliance. The Symposium will also explore new initiatives in U.S.-Japan Economic collaboration, with an emphasis on Clean Energy and Hawaii-Okinawa collaboration. Hawaii’s role in U.S.-Japan relations will be highlighted, especially in the context of bridging APEC 2010 Japan to APEC 2011 USA in Hawaii. Finally, the Symposium brings individuals from the business and public sector communities together, creating opportunities for partnership.
