Rio Grande Certified Precious Metal Clay (PMC) Instructor, Lee Takasugi, will teach you how to mold, shape, stamp, texture, sand and polish soft PMC copper and bronze clay into unique and beautiful pieces of wearable jewelry. PMC is a clay invented by Japanese scientists from the Mitsubishi Corp., that when fired to a certain temperature, transforms from its soft, pliable form into 99.9% pure sterling silver, 23.5 kt. Gold, copper and bronze. PMC has expanded the ease of jewelry-making, thus eliminating the more traditional and pain-staking methods of pounding, drilling and sawing hard metals.
It is like pottery for the jeweler! There is no limit to your imagination. Walk away from the very first class with a finished pair of earrings and a pendant. Enroll in more classes and learn how to use this wonderful art form to make other pieces like rings, bracelets, tie pins, broaches, bolo ties.
$55 members; $65 non-members, includes admission and supplies. RSVP early to rsvp@janm.org or 213.625.0414, 15 students max.
