Coming from a diverse background which includes Classical music, R&B and J- Pop, Akemi Yamada (stage name“akemi”) found her voice in Jazz, and relocated to New York in 2003. Her warm and intimate interpretations of Bossa Nova and Jazz standards coupled with a sophisticated and instrumental approach to improvisation have earned her the reputation of being a “musician’s musician”, and her talent has been proved in her first album “With A Song In My Heart”, released in 2007. Akemi keeps evolving her style of jazz, by writing and arranging her own music, while pursuing active performances in the New York City.?
