The film festival continues with the following screenings on Dec. 2, Jan. 13, and Jan. 27:

Democracy Now!
Fri Dec 2, 6 - 8 pm
Video of August 5, 2005 broadcast featuring several journalist accounts of the atomic blast including William Laurence (whose Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of the bombing of Nagasaki is being contested by the Goodmans), Wilfred Brchett, George Weller and Erik Barnouw's footage from Akira Iwasaki. (2005)

Hiroshima
Fri Jan 13, 2006, 6 - 10 pm
Long (3 hrs) spell-binding made-for-TV drama undertakes the narrative from both sides, showing parallels and devastating differences in an even-handed, insightful and accurate way. A joint Japanese and Canadian production, with the Japanese portion effective and authentic characterizations of Japan's Imperor, military leaders and human cost. The historical scope and accuracy is riveting, acting tops. (1995)

Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie
Fri Jan 27, 2006, 6 - 8 pm
Wow! A very amazing, emotional, visual and gut-wrenching reaction to nuclear arms. From Hiroshima to the global present, the history of atomic and hydrogen bomb design, production and testing by the United States on cities, islands, underwater, underground and in the atmosphere. Rare, archival footage of nuclear bomb tests conducted by Great Britain, China and Russia are astonishing. Peter Kuran, narrated by William Shatner (1995)
