Roy Kakuda es un estadounidense de origen japonés de tercera generación que estuvo preso en el Centro de Reubicación de Poston durante tres años y medio. Después de dejar Poston, regresó al condado de Orange, California, donde asistió a la escuela primaria Hover, que fue una de las primeras escuelas mexicano-estadounidenses en desegregarse en California. Se convirtió en ingeniero y, finalmente, trabajó para el Laboratorio de Propulsión a Chorro hasta su jubilación.
