DESCRIPTION:This ancient celebration begins with sounds of the <em>Taiko Dr
 ums</em> to call and awaken ancestors&rsquo\; spirits and welcome them on 
 their annual return to the world of the living.&nbsp\; Following the openi
 ng ceremonies\, the calling of names and the launching of the floating can
 dle lanterns\, known as <em>TORO NAGASHI</em> will begin.&nbsp\; This will
  signify the spirits&rsquo\; departure and lead them safely back to the sp
 irit world.&nbsp\; Watching the innumerable tiny &ldquo\;boat\,&rdquo\; ea
 ch bearing a shimmering light floating into the dark distance\, provides a
  time of recollection in a sacred place to bid ancestors farewell.\n<stron
 g>Hours of Operation :</strong>\nFrom May 1 through September 30\, 2001\, 
 the Shinzen Garden is open each weekday\, Monday through Friday\, 5:00 P.M
 . to dusk. Saturday\, Sunday and Holidays the Garden is open from 10:00 A.
 M. to dusk. October 1 through April 30 open Saturday\, Sunday and Holidays
  10:00 A.M. to dusk.\n<strong>Park Entrance Fees :</strong>&nbsp\;\nThere 
 is a $3.00 per vehicle charge to enter Woodward Park during the months of 
 February through October. Annual passes for the calendar year are availabl
 e for $55.00 and provide unlimited entry into the park.\n<strong>Japanese
