In August 2008, I went to Hawaii and Los Angeles for research. In Hawaii, I visited a Japanese farm at a Kona coffee plantation. Afterwards, I also visited a Japanese graveyard. In Los Angeles, I gave a lecture at the Pasadena Seminar on how to teach about Japanese people in Japan.
