5 Teaching Immigration: Learning from the Memories of Japanese Americans: Henry S. Yasuda

Published: July 16, 2008 Modified: April 11, 2025

We interviewed Henry S. Yasuda, a volunteer guide at the Japanese American National Museum, in order to create teaching materials for use in Japanese schools. He was in Japan when World War II began, and returned to America after the war, serving in the US military during the Korean War. He shared with us the feelings of a second-generation Japanese who suffered between Japan and America. He also seems to be actively involved in the activities of the Yamaguchi Prefectural Association. >> Print the interview transcript (PDF) © 2008 Multicultural Society American Understanding Education Research Association
