National Cherry Blossom Parade

We reserved seats in the stands for the Cherry Blossom Festival Parade.

After years of growing up watching parades in Los Angeles—Little Tokyo’s Nisei Week Parade, Disneyland parades, and the Pasadena Rose Parade—I was a bit disappointed. I guess I was expecting something a bit more spectacular from a national parade...or at least something more cultural from a cherry blossom parade.

There wasn’t a whole lot actually Japanese-themed in the parade. Hello Kitty was one of the more “authentically” Japanese things in the parade. At least she’s wearing a kimono!
