Upon being relieved of his military duty, Kay experienced the results of the war. Upon Kay's arrival back home, his family had to completely rebuild their lives. With the money in their pockets, a few fellow family friends, and with their ambition to overcome all obstacles that would stand in their way, they began to rebuild their lives.
Masao's family faced similar obstacles; especially, one very unfortunate incident occurred. When executive order was issued Mr. and Mrs. Shigezane had to quickly find someone to store the family store's equipment and supplies. So they found such an individual, who was a "so called" friend. Although, upon their arrival home, all of their supplies and equipment had mysteriously disapeared.
While each others' physical fate differed, both individuals' end road of the crossroad were the same, which led to the success of proving Japanese Americans' loyality to the United States of America.
